Horologists & Jewellers since 1864

William Mansell have over 150 years of expert knowledge in the field of repair and restoration. All work is carried out in our own workshops, combining traditional craftsmanship with the latest technology.

Estimates for repair and restoration are free on inspection whether you visit us personally or send by post. House and office visits can also be arranged.

We receive and dispatch many repairs by post and courier worldwide. Turn round of watch repairs is approximately 2 weeks unless parts have to be obtained from other sources. Repair timescales on other items such as clocks, silverware and jewellery can vary depending on the nature of the work required. We will text or email you a receipt of the sent item, followed by an estimate for repair and approximate delivery timescale.

The business is a traditional jewellers dealing in antique and modern clocks, watches, Grandfather clocks, barometers, jewellery and silverware. Although we supply modern products our speciality area is in the vintage/antique sector. As well as sales there is a thriving repair and restoration service provided by our in-house workshop on the premises.

Our repair and restoration service, including all of the above and more, is continually thriving as we are famed for resolving problem repairs, which other restorers/repairers often cannot carry out. This has been acknowledged by the leading professional body for horologists, the British Horological Institute (BHI) and we receive constant customer referrals through this source. .

Our repair team combines traditional craftsmanship with the latest technology, especially in the horology arena where obsolete replacement parts are handmade as necessary, using materials, tools and techniques appropriate to age and style.

These skills have set us apart from our competitors hence we have built up a client base of national and international customers. Our ability to repair and restore highly complicated watches and clocks gives us the edge.

All our clock and watch repairs are carried out in our workshop, enabling us to offer an extremely efficient service with a twelvemonth guarantee.  We have an in-house capability to carry out bespoke jewellery designs or redesigning existing pieces. We also carry out silverware repairs, engraving, as well as a busy valuation service for all of the above categories.

Our external and on-site clock repairing skills, including both public and private sectors, has led to high-profile contracts: For the last five years we have forged a strong relationship with Tiffany & Co, Bond Street, not only maintaining their external clock but also contracted to undertake all the watch and clock repairs for their London outlets. We also maintain the external and internal clocks of Burberry Ltd, Firmdale Hotel Group, MPL Communications Ltd, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Hewitt Bacon and Woodrow Ltd, United Oxford and Cambridge Club and Masons Hall, among many others.
